Our group was small but mighty as we walked the Boylan Heights neighborhood last evening for the National Night Out. When we arrived at the Project Enlightenment playground we had some discussion (over ice cream) about house and neighborhood security and the importance of reporting any suspicious activity. Early intervention and immediate response are key to stopping crime in its tracks.
The drawing prize went to Adam Zaytoun – a $25 gift certificate to Lowe’s Home Improvement store. (We understand he may have some expenditures coming up with his new old house.) All it took was for him to proudly display his Community Watch sign on his property.
We couldn’t help but notice that there were no children at this event. We would like some constructive feedback about this event that will make it more appealing to neighbors, especially families with children: Format? Timing? Relevance? Other? Everyone’s input is appreciated.
